Job summary

ScanScape is hiring part-time Retail Scan Associates to visit local stores and scan product barcodes on displays and in aisles. The role offers independence, flexible hours, and ongoing data collection across grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise retailers.

Typical weekly hours are 5–10 across all stores, with additional 1–2 hours per week per store for special projects. Travel is paid at the hourly rate, and benefits include sick time and 401(k) with employer matching.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Reliable vehicle with minimum state auto insurance coverage.
• Ability to endure being on your feet for long periods, while accessing products throughout the store.
• Ability to lift to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend/stretch/stoop/stand.
• Must have access to reliable Wi‑Fi and be tech savvy.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-store data collections at assigned local retailers every week for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks.
• Use a downloadable app on your mobile phone to scan barcodes in multiple store locations.
• Provide the quantity for about 45% of the products scanned.
• Complete Display Scanning across the entire store weekly, which can take several hours.
• Assist clients with requests for more specific product details when needed.

Job description

This is a permanent PART-TIME role. The base hours for this position average from 5-10 hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional hours (typically 1–2 hours per week per store) are frequently assigned for special projects throughout the year, with higher demand from January through June. Full scheduling details will be reviewed during the interview.

ScanScape Retail Scan Associates visit a designated selection of stores each week to scan all product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations, including aisle end caps throughout the store. The data collected is analyzed and used to improve the sales performance of the product and retailer (store).

What does a Retail Scan Associate do? We are hiring part-time Retail Scan Associates to perform in-store data collections at assigned local retailers every week for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks. Our store types include grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores. We work with major brand retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Target, Albertsons, and other national chains, as well as small independent retailers.

Retail Scan Associates use a downloadable app on their mobile phone to scan barcodes in numerous locations throughout each store.

While scanning bar codes each week, you will be asked to provide the quantity of about 45% of the products you scan.

What does a Retail Scan Associate's week look like? You will report to your store within the described deadline. You will complete Display Scanning on the entire store, which occurs every week and can take several hours to finish. Our Clients frequently request more specific details about products in the main stocking locations. This additional work is referred to as Custom Projects. They occur almost every week and can add 30 minutes to 2 hours of work for those weeks for each store.
