Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.

Job Responsibilities

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online to ensure positive outcomes.
• Greet pet parents and answer their questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for pick-up and ensure a smooth, positive experience.
• Maintain the healthcare of store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans.
• Filling, facing, and recovering products to meet sales standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoption weekends, charity events, etc.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Act promptly when a sick or injured pet is identified, including transport to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.
• Participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle items, and perform physical activities frequently.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift over 100 pounds occasionally.
• Work in environments with pet hair, possible noise, and exposure to live animals.
