As a Retail Selling Colleague, you blend results‑driven selling with genuine hospitality to create standout shopping experiences. They wear their name badge with pride, greet teammates with a warm hello, and keep the sales floor clean, organized, and prepared for customers. They review their sales goals, learn about new arrivals and top‑selling items, and stay up‑to‑date on current trends and promotions.
• On the floor, they focus on the customer—offering a warm welcome, making eye contact, and creating friendly, personal conversations that build lasting relationships and bring customers back.
• They always finish strong, sharing our loyalty program benefits, ensuring customers have everything they need, and ending with a sincere thank‑you, often walking the package around and using the customer’s name.
• We believe service starts with each other—supporting one another with honesty, care, and collaboration to better serve customers and communities.

Full‑time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part‑time colleagues are scheduled 12–24 hours per week. All schedules include weekend shifts. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability.

What You Will Do

• Greet and connect with customers in a friendly and genuine way, showing appreciation for their experience.
• Recommend products by asking questions to identify customer needs and inspire purchases with newness and resonance.
• Offer options and solutions to complete the sale and enhance the buying experience.
• Wrap‑up the shopping journey, celebrating purchases and sharing in customer excitement.
• Master store products, services, loyalty programs, and Macy's sales systems to help customers find what they need and suggest additional items.
• Maintain department recovery standards, including sales floor and fitting rooms.
• Deliver optimal merchandise execution, ensure accurate pricing, and process markdowns timely and accurately.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Skills You Will Need

• Product Knowledge: Good understanding of the products you sell; provide expert guidance based on wants, features, and choices.
• Communication: Comfortable communicating with customers virtually, via phone, and in person.
• Sales: Build relationships, achieve sales goals, and participate in pre‑selling and sales‑boosting events.
• Technology: Utilize point‑of‑sale technology and applications to sell and fulfill orders.
• Continuous Learning: Self‑driven to keep product knowledge up to date and stay current with training.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, working effectively with colleagues across levels and departments.

Must be able to

Essential Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing or walking, at least two consecutive hours.
• Frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment.
• Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and colour vision.
• Lifting, constant moving, standing, reaching with arms and hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Lifting and moving items up to 30 lbs.
