Job summary

Safeway is seeking a mid-level Counsel in the Real Estate Law Department to handle transactional retail real estate work. The position is located in either Pleasanton, CA or Boise, ID with onsite work Monday through Thursday to facilitate collaboration.

The role requires a law degree from an ABA-accredited school, California or Idaho bar admission, and at least five years of sophisticated retail real estate transactions experience, including tenant/landlord representation and deal structuring.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to management and real estate business staff on structuring, documenting and negotiating real estate transactions.
• Draft, review and negotiate real estate contracts, leases and related documents.
• Conduct due diligence for real estate acquisitions and dispositions.
• Support day-to-day management of owned and leased properties.
• Collaborate with finance, property management and operations to meet business goals.
• Supervise paralegal functions supporting the portfolio.
