Job summary

AIA Seattle is seeking a fully competent professional architect to perform architectural design and development for new construction and major alterations. The Project Architect will coordinate the architectural work across entire projects, including specifications and construction administration, with a focus on retail contexts.

The role emphasizes leading design development, coordinating staff, ensuring client satisfaction, and traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Architecture required.
• Minimum six years’ experience as an architect with retail focus.
• Architectural license desired.
• Thorough knowledge of construction materials, standards and codes.
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.
• MEP coordination experience preferred.
• Minimum two years supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Identifies objectives and formulates options; prioritizes design work.
• Prepares designs, drawings, specs and construction documents.
• Interprets concepts and develops workable construction systems.
• Coordinates and leads architecture and interior design staff.
• Communicates project status with managers and clients.
• Maintains records of client/architect/contractor relations.
• May perform various architectural staff duties as needed.
• May conduct design and technical presentations for team/clients.
• May require domestic travel to visit clients/sites.
