Responsibilities

  • Enter and fill prescriptions for medications across oral, topical, rectal, or injectable forms.
  • Create medication labels and unit doses.
  • Accurately enter prescription data into the system.
  • Perform dosage calculations for diverse patient populations.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Communicate with customers, coworkers, and healthcare professionals by email and phone.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies and facilities to resolve issues.
  • Process charges and prepare dispensing records.

Education

Job Description: We’re seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team at Presbyterian Homes of Georgia in Austell, GA on an as needed (PRN) basis. The ideal candidate is someone who works well in a fast-paced team environment, detail-oriented, and willing to assist where necessary. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assists the pharmacist by entering and/or filling prescriptions for medications for oral, rectal, topical, or injectible use
  • Creates medication labels and unit doses medications
  • Accurately and efficiently completes data entry of prescriptions
  • Demonstrates an ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations
  • Maintains inventory of supplies in pharmacy and reorders them accordingly
  • Professionally and efficiently interacts via email and telephone with customers, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Makes phone calls on behalf of the pharmacy to insurance companies, healthcare facilities, etc. for the purpose of problem solving and information gathering
  • Sells patient prescriptions to patient or patient representative utilizing the point of sale system
  • Prepares and processes records and reports including medications and supplies dispensed to patients or customers, computes charges, and either enters them into the computer, or forwards them to accounting/data processing/similar department
Position Requirements:

  • Current pharmacy technician licensure in the applicable state(s)
