Salary Range: $85.00 To $95.00 Hourly

POSITION PURPOSE

Provides consultation on all aspects of the provision of pharmacy services at Catalina Island Medical Center/ Leo’s Drug Store. Assists to identify, evaluate, and address/resolve pharmaceutical concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care, or quality of life.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks that contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction, patient care, and operational excellence, while treating all individuals with respect and dignity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Counsel customers regarding medication filled at the pharmacy
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations
  • Evaluates the pharmaceutical services and addresses irregularities
  • Documents and reports the results of the review
  • Guides the selection and use of medications in accordance with the authorized prescriber’s orders, applicable state and federal requirements, manufacturers ‘specifications, characteristics of the patient population, and individual patient conditions
  • Physical inspection of pharmacy medication areas
  • Attends other meetings as required
  • Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of pharmacy regulations

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic setting. Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and CIH staff is required. Employees may be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinical environments. Adherence to safety policies and health regulations is mandatory.

EDUCATION

B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm D. Degree

EXPERIENCE

High volume retail pharmacy experience preferred
