Job summary

A leading pet care retailer in Snyder County is looking for a Retail Operations Manager who will drive operational excellence while maintaining the company's values. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of leadership experience in retail, possess strong communication skills, and have a flexible schedule. This role offers a challenging environment with significant responsibilities in training, inventory management, and overall store operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of retail leadership or experience in a customer-focused environment.
  • Full-time availability; flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

  • Drive operational excellence while upholding company vision.
  • Lead and coach associates on proper operational processes.
  • Manage expense and inventory effectively.
  • Ensure a safe environment for associates and pets.
  • Leads and coaches associates on proper operational processes to ensure pets in our care are safe and healthy.
  • Coordinates staffing coverage for process activities in pivotal areas of the store (pet care maintenance, hotel cleaning, salon cleaning, etc.).
  • Validates completion of assigned operational messages and engagement video compliance.
  • Effectively communicates company information and priorities to associates to ensure alignment and deliver on expectations.
  • Recognizes and celebrates associates driving overall associate engagement.
  • Accountable for and provides oversight for the healthcare of store-owned pets, including pet care maintenance, receiving new store-owned pets, and care standards for all habitats and pet care tasks.
  • Accountable for inventory management and pricing processes, including inventory accuracy, receiving, stocking, counts, product rotations and planogram adherence.
  • Evaluates operations and seeks opportunities to continuously improve experiences and services.
  • Maintains vendor relationships, backroom standards, and communication boards.
  • Oversight of Buy Online and Pick Up In Store and Ship From Store programs.
  • Identifies and reacts to sales trends through analysis and merchandising activities.
  • Delivers sound merchandising decisions for discretionary space and product lifecycle.
  • Maintains store standards and leads a culture of empowerment with adherence to Policies & Procedures and Code of Ethics.
  • Ensures a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.
  • Responds to sick or injured pets in store and takes appropriate action.
  • Drives opportunities to grow the business and holds associates accountable for store P&L targets.
  • Analyzes inventory management reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and root causes.
  • Manages expenses such as labor and supplies and coordinates with Home Office partners for store-related work orders and purchasing.

Essential Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, and may vary by store characteristics and needs.

People Leadership
  • Participates in employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, and coaching.
  • Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development; including training across the store, onboarding, associate reviews, labor management, mentoring, succession planning, and coaching for accountability.
  • Addresses and administers associate complaints and grievances.
  • Prioritizes, delegates, and validates daily tasks for associates to meet business and pet parent needs.
  • Leads and coaches associates on proper operational processes to ensure pets in our care are safe and healthy.

  • Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. May require lifting up to 50 pounds; occasionally more.
  • Exposure to live animals, pet hair, and typical store environment with moderate noise.
