Job summary

Goodwill Norwalk is seeking a Retail Materials Handler to support in-store operations, loading/unloading donations, sorting and staging items for production, and ensuring safe, organized production and donation areas.

You will greet donors, assist with unloading, maintain inventory sheets, operate basic material handling equipment, and follow safety procedures to maintain a positive donation experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year experience preferred as a materials handler in retail or manufacturing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors and assist with unloading items from vehicles.
• Sort, stage, and inventory donations for production and shipping.

Position summary : The Retail Materials Handleris responsible forconveying donations, new inventory, storage materials, and salvaged goods within Goodwill's retail locations.Typical tasks includeassisting donors,sorting,and staging donationsfor production,andloading/unloadingGoodwill trucks.Responsible formaintainingsafety andorganization intheproductionand donationareas,as well as operatingsimplemachinery.

Essential functions:

• Greet each customer/donor, assist with unloading/loading items into vehicles, offer receipt, thank, and invite them back, providing a positive donation experience through attentive customer service.
• Present a positive public image for the organization by promoting Goodwill mission programs and servicesin all customer interactions.
• Maintain accurate donorcount sheets and report any issues/discrepancies to store management.
• Operate material storage and handling equipment (jacks, stackers, gaylords, and barrels) in a safe and efficient manner while loading, unloading, or moving materials to and from Goodwill trucks and in the production area.
• Use sound judgment in sorting donations, including items donated at the store, in donation drop boxes, and purchased donationsfrom the warehouse; ensure items of value are not discarded.
• Maintain sufficient inventory at production are a workstation for uninterrupted, efficient production flow.
• Keep store management informed of any shortage of storage materials and donated goods.
• Prepare paperwork and shipping labels per Goodwill protocols, for materials to be shipped or delivered, including e -commerce and items to be baled, salvaged, recycled, or discarded.
• Maintain truck dock, material handler kiosk, donation drop box, and other materials storage areas in a neat and orderly manner, in manner, in with Goodwill safety protocols.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Attend safety training and follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and supervised work environment for all employees.
• Promote positive teamwork among co-workers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and required skills:

• Ability to use physical exertion such as prolonged periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, reaching, andclimbing; ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.

Education and experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1year experience preferred asa materials handler in a manufacturing or retail environment, utilizing materials handling equipment.
