Job summary

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet in Asheboro, NC is seeking a Retail Freight Team Leader to oversee the receiving area and ensure efficient freight flow to the sales floor. You will maintain back stock and manage the disposition of damaged goods in line with store standards.

Key duties include planning and unloading shipments, verifying vendor deliveries, guiding associates, and acting as Manager on Duty during openings and closings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months experience with a mid- to large-size retailer.
• Schedule flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks within tight deadlines.
• Positive attitude and strong customer and coworker interaction.

Responsibilities

• Plan, unload, check in, and support merchandising of shipments.
• Receive, verify, and merchandise direct vendor shipments.
• Maintain freight flow in the receiving area and keep the dock safe and orderly.
• Confirm accuracy of incoming merchandise and set up displays.
• Prepare outbound transfers and supervise associates involved in freight flow.
• Act as Manager on Duty and assist with opening/closing duties.

Position Overview:

The Retail Freight Team Leader oversees the efficient operation and maintenance of the receiving area as outlined in the company receiving area plan. Responsibilities include the accurate, efficient, and timely execution of freight flow to the sales floor in accordance with established processing and visual merchandising standards. Maintain back stock in the receiving area and manage the disposition of damaged goods to minimize profit loss.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan, unload, check in, and support the merchandising of distribution shipments of merchandise.
• Receive, verify, and merchandise all direct vendor shipments.

Manage effective freight flow in the receiving area while maintaining equipment and a safe, orderly dock and exterior.

• Adhere to company standards confirm the accuracy of all incoming merchandise and set up and design merchandise displays.
• Prepare and process outbound transfers of merchandise and fixtures as required.
• Direct the work of other Associates who are assisting with freight flow processes.
• Act as Manager on Duty and complete any additional responsibilities as assigned including opening and closing of the store.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks while working within strict timeframes and deadlines.
• Must have a positive attitude and the ability to interact well with customers and associates.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
