Job summary

Publicis Sapient Chicago seeks an Architect specializing in Enterprise Architecture to design and implement scalable, business-aligned technology solutions across cloud, on-premises and edge environments. You will lead architecture reviews and mentor teams to deliver secure, high-performance systems for complex retail and payments platforms.

Qualifications

Senior hands-on engineering leadership experience in GCP enterprise architecture, solution architecture, software architecture.
Experience designing and modernizing complex, business-critical technology platforms.
Strong background in retail, restaurant, hospitality, point-of-sale, payments, digital commerce, or distributed store systems.
Decomposing monolithic applications into modular or microservices-based architectures.
Experience across cloud, on-premises, hybrid and edge environments.
Understanding of APIs, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, messaging, integration and data patterns.
Deep experience with GCP services (GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Apigee).
Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, observability and DevOps.
Experience integrating payment terminals or other hardware with enterprise apps.
Familiarity with payment security, resilience and production-operational requirements.
Leadership in design reviews, governance, PoCs, and risk assessments.
Mentoring architects/engineers and providing technical direction across teams.
Strong stakeholder-management and presentation skills; English proficiency required.
Experience with Java and modern frameworks like Spring Boot or Micronaut.
Experience with distributed messaging platforms (Pub/Sub, Kafka) and data stores.
Knowledge of Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
Understanding POS integration standards (JPOS, OPOS).
Experience with payment authorization and settlement processing.
Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, SOLID, TDD/BDD and Agile delivery.
