Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking an energetic Retail Donation Attendant at the Wentzville store to support our mission, "Changing Lives Through the Power of Work!" in a fast-paced donation and retail environment.

The role focuses on friendly customer service, accurate donation processing, inventory sorting, and keeping the store clean and organized while following safety and loss-prevention procedures. No degree required; HS diploma preferred; benefits and bonus provided.

Qualifications

• No degree required; High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
• Must be organized and capable of interacting with a diverse work population.
• Mathematical skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive customer service interactions, including greetings and donor assistance with drop-offs and tax receipts.
• Handle donations with care and respect.
• Sort donated and purchased goods into categories (sales floor, seasonal, online, outlet, trash) per guidelines.
• Notify management of hazardous, valuable, or inappropriate merchandise.
• Maintain high quality and quantity standards while working quickly and steadily.
• Stock, straighten, rotate, and keep the store area clean and organized.
• Uphold cleanliness by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
• Build professional relationships with team members and leadership; work cross-functionally.
• Practice safe work habits and keep aisles clear of obstructions.
• Maintain a professional appearance per dress code.
• Safeguard agency assets and report theft or loss.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide positive customer service interactions, including greetings, assisting donors with their donation drop off, and offering thanks and any donation incentive and tax receipt.
• Handles all donations with care and respect.
• Sorts donated goods and purchased goods into categories: sales floor, seasonal, online sales, outlet, and trash, according to established guidelines.
• Notifies management of hazardous, valuable, or inappropriate merchandise/materials being donated.
• Maintains high quality and high quantity standards while working quickly and steadily.
• Stocks straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.
• Upholds store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
• Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership and works cross-functionally with other teams to increase communication.
• Utilizes safe work practices through awareness and observation and contributes to ensuring the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways debris-free.
• Maintain a professional appearance always, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code.
• Safeguards agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets.
• Must adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus Up to $250.00
• Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
