Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group seeks a Retail Pharmacy Tech III to support daily pharmacy operations under the pharmacist supervision. You will assist in preparing and distributing medications, gathering patient information, and ensuring accurate order fulfillment.

The role emphasizes efficient processing, accurate med selection, and active involvement in med sync and vaccination programs. With responsibilities spanning from receiving Rx to using QS1/Eyecon/RxMedic tools, you will help ensure timely

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Current Pharmacy Technician certification from state board.
• Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire; immunization certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in receiving, processing and preparing orders.
• Receive prescriptions from patients; collect demographics, insurance, allergies, current meds.
• Process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
• Select correct medication, strength, dosage form and quantity.
• Prepare/fill prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
• Use QS1, Eyecons and RxMedi c to manage workload and counts.
• Identify and enroll med sync patients; participate in adherence initiatives.

As a Retail Pharmacy Tech III at MercyOne, you will be under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including preparation and distribution of medications to patients and patient care areas.

Schedule

• Full-time Hours between 8:30 AM - 6:00PM; M-F

General Requirements

• Assists pharmacists in receiving, processing and preparing provider’s orders
• Receives rx from patient, collects appropriate information to process rx (demographics, insurance, allergies, current medications)
• Processes prescriptions accurately and efficiently
• Obtains correct medication, strength, dosage form and quantity to complete order
• Prepares/fills prescription for pharmacist verification
• Utilizes Pharmacy-at-a-Glance in QS1 to monitor workload and prioritize tasks
• Pharmacy Tech II only - Receives telephone prescription orders from providers (repeat back and verify information)
• Utilizes Eyecons to count all meds capable of being counted on Eyecons. Double count all meds (except for RxMedic drugs) and back count CIIs.
• Processes Return to Stocks daily.
• Covenant Family Pharmacy ONLY - Selects appropriate product (including package size) for RxMedic. Troubleshoots and calls RxMedic if necessary.
• Performs Time My Meds daily tasks - Posting, Informational Review, Notes, Will Call Bin Check, Days Supply Mismatch
• Actively recruits and enrolls med sync patients.
• Accurately makes necessary adjustments within Time My Meds and patient chart to reflect med changes or schedule changes.
• Identifies patients in need of med adherence packaging and refers to our program.
• Promotes vaccination services, especially during cold/flu season and during other vaccination initiatives.
• Promotes iMedicare and our assistance in providing information for Medicare Part D enrollment.
• Covenant Family Pharmacy ONLY - Identifies and prioritizes Transitions of Care prescriptions. Follows appropriate procedures according to Transitions of Care program.

Education

• Minimum of 2 years Pharmacy Technician experience
• Current Pharmacy Certified Technician required from registration with the Board of Pharmacy.
• Registered with Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Technician or as a Pharmacy Intern within 30 days of hire. Immunization Administration Certificate.
