Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is hiring a cashier to operate the front counter POS system and deliver an outstanding customer experience in a busy retail environment.

You will greet customers, answer inquiries, ring up sales, and assist with stocking and store cleanliness, while supporting management with additional tasks as needed. A friendly, reliable team member with basic math and cash handling skills is ideal.

Role Overview

Cashiers play a key role in delivering outstanding customer experience. The primary responsibilities include operating and managing the front counter point-of-sale (POS) system while ensuring asmoothpleasant shopping experience for every customer.

Primary Duties

• Provide excellent customer service by welcoming andassistingcustomers during entry and exit, ensuring a positive shopping experience
• Direction of sales associates using the PA system
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales
• Cash-handling and bagging of purchased merchandise
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor
• Performs or may performadditionalduties as assigned by management and supervision

Position Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
• Mustpossessbasic organizational and/or applicable math skills
• Detail-oriented and reliable
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus
