Compensation: $65,000-$80,000 based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity


Travel: Periodic travel to retailer, customer, distributor, broker, or vendor locations may be required


Position Summary

Retail Marketing Group is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Retail Business & Financial Analyst to support multiple functions across the organization. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in the retail, wholesale, distribution, consumer packaged goods, grocery, or food-broker industry, along with strong financial acumen, analytical capabilities, and computer skills.


This position is responsible for consolidating and analyzing large volumes of sales, financial, customer, vendor, item, and operational data; identifying meaningful trends; and translating findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations.


The successful candidate must be able to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to time-sensitive business needs, maintain a high degree of accuracy, and consistently deliver professional, decision-ready work.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collect, consolidate, organize, validate, and analyze large volumes of sales, financial, customer, vendor, item, promotional, and operational data.

  • Translate complex information into meaningful business insights, actionable recommendations, and clearly defined next steps.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, recurring reports, presentations, and analytical tools for management and executive leadership.

  • Analyze sales, gross margin, costs, pricing, promotions, item movement, customer performance, vendor programs, accruals, and other key business measures.

  • Compare actual results against budgets, forecasts, prior-year performance, established targets, and relevant benchmarks.

  • Identify performance trends, data inconsistencies, financial risks, and opportunities for sales growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency.

  • Support multiple business functions, including sales, merchandising, finance, marketing, category management, vendor relations, and operations.

  • Assist with financial reconciliations, program tracking, billing reviews, accrual validation, and the verification of customer and vendor information.

  • Prepare professional Microsoft PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate analytical findings, business implications, and recommended actions.

  • Build and maintain Microsoft Excel workbooks using formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, data-validation tools, and other analytical features.

  • Use approved artificial intelligence and automation tools to support research, analysis, reporting, and productivity while following company requirements for confidentiality, data security, accuracy, and appropriate human review.

  • Review source data, calculations, reports, and presentations to ensure that all information is complete, accurate, consistent, and delivered on time.

  • Manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines while adjusting priorities as business needs change.

  • Respond professionally and effectively to time-sensitive requests.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, customers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors, brokers, and vendor partners.

  • Develop a strong understanding of company programs, customer requirements, industry practices, contractual obligations, and organizational objectives.

  • Periodically travel to customer, retailer, distributor, broker, or vendor locations, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Perform other related responsibilities consistent with the general scope and level of the position.


Required Qualifications


  • Strong financial and business acumen, including an understanding of sales, gross margin, costs, pricing, budgets, accruals, and profitability.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, and data analysis.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and related Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to consolidate, validate, analyze, and interpret large or complex datasets.

  • Ability to identify what the data is communicating and translate findings into practical business recommendations.

  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare accurate, professional reports and presentations for management and executive audiences.

  • Ability to support multiple business functions and manage competing assignments and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, analytics, marketing, economics, or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and professional experience will also be considered.

  • Experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, grocery, consumer packaged goods, or the food‑broker industry.

  • Experience analyzing retail sales, category, item, customer, promotional, margin, or vendor performance.

  • Experience working with point‑of‑sale, syndicated, distributor, wholesale, or financial‑reporting data.

  • Knowledge of retail pricing, promotional programs, category management, vendor funding, accruals, and profitability analysis.

  • Experience creating dashboards, executive reports, and management presentations.

  • Familiarity with Power Query, Power BI, database applications, or other business‑intelligence platforms.

  • Experience improving, standardizing, or automating recurring reporting processes.
