Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and run in-store events at our Conway, NH location. You will work with clients of all ages, coordinate crafts, demonstrations, and party add-ons, and ensure a fun, safe environment while delivering great customer service.

You will communicate with store teams, handle administrative tasks, and help drive a welcoming shopping experience that highlights rewards programs and seasonal events.

Qualifications

  • Retail and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience handling children's events is ideal.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain energetic and positive in a busy retail environment.
  • Ability to engage customers and explain store programs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate events such as children’s birthday parties and in-store classes.
  • Demonstrate crafts, perform face painting, and lead activities.
  • Coordinate add-ons like goody bags and balloons per company standards.
  • Assist customers, locate products, and explain rewards and card programs.
  • Handle emails, calls, and paperwork; maintain store cleanliness and safety.

Job description

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members
  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms

Work Environment
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment
