Job summary

DICK’S Sporting Goods in Lansing, MI is seeking a Bike Technician to deliver a differentiated customer experience by building and repairing bicycles to established standards. Qualifications

  • Prior experience of building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred.
  • Stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 4 hours).

  • Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate service and engaging customers in our Bike Department.
  • Build and repair bikes according to established procedures.
  • Sell bikes and related merchandise to achieve sales goals.
  • Provide knowledgeable product recommendations aligned to customer needs.
  • Promote warranty sales, Scorecard loyalty, and private-label cards.
  • Maintain Bike Department presentation and signage to company standards.
  • Uphold safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support the team across the store as needed.

Overview

The Bike Technician is a technically focused role centered around providing a differentiated customer experience specifically to cyclists. The Bike Tech is responsible for building and repairing bicycles according to established procedures. This individual will pull from personal experiences and industry research and trends to provide strong product recommendations that align to the customer’s needs.



  • Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate customer service and selling through customer engagement, specifically (but not limited to) our Bike Department.

  • Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation.

  • Demonstrate ability to genuinely interact with customers to show passion, knowledge,

  • dedication, and commitment in their sport or activity.

  • Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private-label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions.

  • Achieve sales goals through selling bikes and related merchandise.

  • Build and repair bikes in accordance with established procedures. Assist with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed.

  • Maintains merchandise presentation standards and signage of Bike Department to Company standards as directed.

  • Adheres to established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention and standard operating procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all Company information.

  • Takes an all-hands-on-deck approach to support the team across the store.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 5 times per hour).

  • Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
