Job summary

Smoky Mountain Resorts in Pigeon Forge, TN seeks a Merchandise Attendant for Country Cascades Waterpark Resort to assist guests, stock shelves and operate the Outpost Gift Shop and Waterpark Marketplace.

You will learn and use Paycor, Agilysys POS, Yellow Dog, Maestro, Purple Cloud and Guest XMS while delivering friendly, accurate service, upsell products and maintain clean displays. High school diploma required; retail or hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with product selections and upsell opportunities.

  • Maintain clean, attractive displays at Outpost Gift Shop and Waterpark Marketplace.
  • Provide exceptional guest service and address inquiries promptly.

Schedule 2: Sun. & Mon. 7:30 AM- 4 PM, Tues. Off, Wed. & Thurs. 2 PM-10:15 PM, Fri. Off, Sat. 12 PM-8 PM

Purpose:

Join the heart of hospitality as you learn how to become a professional and friendly representative for our company. Immerse yourself in the Hospitality and Hotel Resort world as you maintain clear and open communication with SMR guests. Within your respective shift assignment(s), perfect your customer service and listening skills while you work alongside other team members to create a welcoming environment for the entirety of the guests stay. Sharpen your communication and problem solving skills as you interact and build relationships with our guests on a daily basis. Build retail skills and join in the adventures at the Outpost Gift Shop, offering branded retail products and interactive experiences including; Beary Bear’s Build-A-Buddy, Rowdy Rabbit’s Gem Mining and leather bracelet engraving.

Primary Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Business:

The Merchandise Attendant will work 8-10+ hours per shift, 5 or 6+ days each week, based on occupancy and staffing demand. Holidays and weekends are affected by peak demand which means all team members must work together during those days to keep our operations running efficiently.

  • Recognize my role is important to impact guest excellence initiatives and repeat visits for future hotel stays.
  • Be a professional, who is courteous and a friendly representative to SMR guests, vendors and other visitors.
  • Retail locations: Outpost Gift Shop and Waterpark Marketplace.
  • Be helpful and ensure an inviting shopping environment.
  • Provide exceptional guest service, assisting with product selections, upselling opportunities and accessories.
  • Learn transaction sales procedures and systems.
  • Train to use the Agilysys POS system for proficient customer service transactions such as; purchases, returns and exchanges. Ensure transactions are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Conduct routine inventory checks to inform my supervisor of stock levels and potential orders to ensure products in stock, to support revenue goals.
  • Train to use the Yellow Dog Inventory system to conduct inventories, receive new inventory, verify deliveries and restock items.
  • Maintain the cleanliness standards and creative visual appeals. This includes regular cleaning and organization of retail products and displays.
  • Ensure communication is accurate when addressing guest inquiries and responding to questions.
  • Host a safe and interactive environment where all guests can have fun and enjoy their stay.
  • Handle guest concerns and know when to refer information to management.
  • Compliance with TOSHA certification, biohazards procedures and responsibilities for safety in handling.
  • Knowledge and ability to comply with all company operating policies and procedures.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Management reserves the right to change, remove or add to these duties as necessary.

  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail (ATD).
  • Digitally savvy with the ability to learn and use Paycor system, Agilysys POS system and Yellow Dog system for inventory. The advanced Property Management system (Maestro) is required. Country Cascades and The Resort will also use the Purple Cloud system, Guest XMS which is required. Software systems may be deleted and/or added with innovations in new technology.
Education / Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas/industries is preferred which includes: Retail, Merchandise Sales and Hospitality/Tourism.
  • Ability to deal within a diverse workforce.

Essential Functions:

Specific vision abilities required for this job include peripheral, distance, close, and depth perception and the ability to adjust vision focus. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, use hands to finger, touch, handle, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb and descend numerous flights of stairs consistently. The employee is required to use hand, arm, and leg to reach, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds daily on their own.
