Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include generating revenue by demonstrating product knowledge, suggestive selling and conducting sales transactions with guests in a variety of indoor and open-air locations. Specific duties include:

• Greets guests in a professional, friendly and courteous manner.
• Maintains full knowledge of all retail products and provides an interactive guest experience using suggestive sales techniques and product demonstrations.
• Exceeds guest expectations by providing a personalized shopping experience.
• Folds, wraps and bags merchandise.
• Processes merchandise sales and returns using the point-of-sale system with accuracy and efficiency.
• Handles cash, credit card transactions, travelers’ checks, vouchers and discounts; follows cash handling procedures and balances at end of shift.
• Stocks, replenishes and retrieves merchandise and supplies; ensures pricing accuracy and markdowns.
• Maintains store appearance and completes opening, running and closing duties as assigned.
• Assists in loss prevention and training of new staff when applicable.
• Maintains knowledge of the company’s products and communicates with guests effectively; builds rapport.
• Notifies management of low inventory and communicates opportunities and concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned; works with urgency. Adheres to responsible alcohol service per policy.
• Follows safety and sanitation practices and reports accidents to management.

Requirements

Skills/Experience

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• One year experience in guest service or retail preferred; or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.
• Ability to complete a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Cash handling skills required.

Educational Requirements

• High school degree or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Ability to push/pull/lift objects, climb stairs or ladders as needed, and handle physical tasks up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Clear communication in the primary language of the location (primarily English).
• Normal hearing and vision capabilities with standard depth perception and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

• Exposure to varying weather conditions and ambient noise levels.
• Frequent movement through narrow aisles or passageways; risk of cuts from broken glass or cans; slips and trips.

Language and Math Skills

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions; present information to groups of managers, clients, and guests.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations for transactions and inventory.
