Job summary

TJ Maxx in Columbus, IN, is seeking a sales leader to join our store team. You will help recruit, onboard, and develop Associates while maintaining daily operations and cash office standards.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to multi-task, with a schedule that includes nights and weekends. Prior retail and leadership experience is preferred to drive a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year retail experience and 6 months leadership experience.
• Outstanding communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Capable of multi-tasking and adapting to changes.

Responsibilities

• Creates a positive internal and external customer experience.
• Takes an active role in hiring (scheduling interviews, reference checks) and onboarding new Associates.
• Maintains Associate personnel files and cash office functions.
• Supports Store Manager with scheduling, expense monitoring, inventory, and requisitions.
• Ensures proper Associate coverage and supports store coverage needs.
• Communicates priorities to management and Associates; provides progress updates.
• Trains and develops Associates; ensures compliance with labor laws and policies.
• Maintains store cleanliness and safety; promotes credit and loyalty programs.
• Supports shrink reduction goals and overall store initiatives.

• Creates a positive internal and external customer experience
• Promotes a culture of honesty and integrity; maintains confidentiality
• Takes an active role in the hiring process (scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, etc.) and in the onboarding process of new Associates
• Maintains Associate personnel files
• Performs daily cash office functions and maintains cash office standards
• Supports Operations Assistant Store Manager with scheduling, expense account monitoring, supply inventory and requisition
• Maintains proper Associate coverage in service areas for a positive customer experience
• Supports and responds to coverage needs throughout the store
• Ensures store team executes tasks and activities according to store plan; prioritizes as needed
• Communicates accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; provides progress updates
• Provides and accepts recognition and constructive feedback
• Partners with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
• Ensures adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
• Maintains all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the sales floor and participates in the maintenance/cleanliness of the entire store
• Promotes credit and loyalty programs
• Supports and participates in store shrink reduction goals and programs
• Promotes safety awareness and maintains a safe environment
