Job Overview

We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us! This position is responsible to work with residents needing restorative measures to improve or maintain their highest level of function according to Standards of Practice set by the facility. Follows plans set by Therapy and Nursing. This position reports directly to the Director of Staff Development or Director of Nursing. The position works closely with Therapy, who is responsible for teaching and monitoring those techniques that are beyond the scope of Restorative Nursing and works with the Restorative Nurse to perform basic skills and techniques within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant. The position provides direct care to residents according to established methods and techniques. Provides restorative care using techniques as set by facility policy and standards of practice: Range of Motion; passive, active, resistive Ambulation including assistive devices used Bed Mobility and Positioning Techniques Application of Splints, Braces, Cones, Prosthetic Devices and care of limbs where applied Assistive Feeding Devices and Restorative Dining Techniques; cueing and swallowing Activity of Daily Living Techniques; bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene Incontinent Management Techniques Transfer Techniques Communication Techniques Can also perform functions delegated, taught and supervised by formalized therapy. Participates in Restorative Dining Programs and follows programs as directed by Therapy/Nursing. Serves as a resource and role model for Certified Nursing Assistants and assists them in following through on Level III programs. Reports to charge nurses and Restorative Nurse when restorative measures are not carried out by Level III staff. Documents program completion everyday as required by facility policy. Documents a weekly narrative progress note regarding the residents progression/regression of meeting goals. Attends weekly Restorative meeting and offers information regarding resident progress or decline in meeting set goals. Reports unusual problems regarding resident care to nursing staff immediately: pain, refusals, falls, etc. Reports malfunctioning or improperly fitting equipment and equipment needs to Therapy/Nursing i.e., wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. Places preventative/pressure relief mattresses and wheelchair cushions as directed by Restorative Nurse. Identifies and reports to the Restorative Nurse/Therapist any programs that might be needed by any resident in the facility. Attends Care Plan Conference as directed by Restorative Nurse. Offers suggestions and provides input into development of an individualized plan of care. Assists with General Orientation and On-Going Restorative Nursing Inservice Needs as directed by the Restorative Nurse. Participates in the facility Quality Improvement Program as directed by the Restorative Nurse. Reports any areas of needed improvement. Keeps skills current and enhances present skills by attendance to inservices and seminars.

Qualifications

Requires a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant and two years of clinical Certified Nursing Assistant experience. High school diploma. Additionally, requires knowledge and skills in basic Restorative Nursing principles and practices. Evidence of ability to work as a member of the team. Reliable, good judgement and takes initiative. Able to follow verbal and written instructions. Able to write in English. Physical requirements include: ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and have manual dexterity. Understands and embraces the Facility Restorative Philosophy. Requires mobility in order to move about the campus and be able to respond to emergency situations calmly and quickly. This individual must be able to lift 50 pounds and support patients up to 150 pounds. Must have the ability to safely perform the essential functions of this position without harm to self or others. May be exposed to unpleasant conditions. Has risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens as part of routine job functions. Must possess adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of this position.

Compensation

Compensation Pay Range: $19.13 - $25.43 per hour

Reasonable Pay Estimate A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $19.13 - $25.43 per hour. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
