Job summary

The Health Center at Standifer Place is seeking a Licensed Certified Nursing Assistant to provide restorative nursing programs under CNA scope and supervised therapy. You will collaborate with CNAs and nurses to ensure residents receive planned programs and report progress daily.

You will participate in restorative dining, assist with ROM, ambulation, transfers, and documentation, while maintaining safety and quality in resident care.

Qualifications

• Licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credentials required.
• Minimum of two years of clinical bedside CNA experience.
• Knowledge of restorative nursing principles and practices.
• Ability to work as a member of the team.
• Reliable, good judgment and initiative.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions, able to write in English.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and have manual dexterity.
• Understands and embraces the facility restorative philosophy.
• Communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Demonstrates accountability and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides restorative programs: ROM; Ambulation; Bed mobility, positioning and transfer techniques.
• Assistive feeding devices and Restorative Dining techniques (cueing and swallowing).
• Activity of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene).
• Incontinent management; Transfer; Communication.
• Participates in restorative dining program, directs regular CNAs about resident restorative dining programs.
• Documents program completion daily and narrative progress notes as required by facility policy.
• Attends restorative meetings and care plan conferences.
• Reports unusual problems regarding resident care to nursing staff immediately (pain, refusals, falls).
• Reports malfunctioning or improperly fitting equipment and equipment needs to therapy and restorative nurse.
• Places preventative/pressure relief mattresses and wheelchair cushions as directed by Restorative Nurse.
• Offers suggestions and provides input into development of interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Assists with general orientation and ongoing restorative nursing in-services.
• Participates in the facility Quality Improvement Program as directed by the Restorative Nurse; reports areas needing improvement.
• Keeps skills current by attendance to in-services and seminars.
• Participates in transfer of residents from Level II to Level III.
• Assists with Phase II classes, as directed.
• Performs therapy delegated tasks under the direction and supervision of Therapy.
• Ensuring Resident Safety.

The position is a nursing function and reports directly to the restorative nurse or a position in the nursing department. The position works closely with therapy. Works collaboratively with the CNAs and nurses to see that residents receive their programs as planned.

• Serves as a resource and role model for CNAs
• Documents program completion everyday and narrative progress notes as required by facility policy
