Job summary

ALIYA Healthcare Consulting is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide quality restorative care to residents, supporting goals on the restorative plan. This is a full-time, on-site role in Illinois, requiring CPR, English communication, and prior long-term care experience.

Ideal candidates will be able to learn and use current technology and complete restorative nursing training within one year. The role collaborates with the restorative nurse and care teams to enhance resident function.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• CNA certification in IL/IN or eligible within 120 days.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to express or exchange spoken and/or written ideas in English with patients/residents, co-workers, families, and the public.
• Ability to learn and use current technology.
• One-year experience in long-term care preferred.
• Knowledge of restorative nursing assistant functions or must complete restorative course within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides input to the Restorative Nurse for the development of the restorative care program.
• Assists with implementation of nursing restorative interventions as directed by restorative nurse including ambulation, ROM, activities of daily living (ADLs), assistive feeding devices, splints, hand cones/contracture care, and bladder retraining.
• Participates in care plan conferences as directed.
• Completes restorative documentation related to resident's participation, progress, tolerance, etc.
• Works with appropriate departments to ensure assistive devices are consistently available and utilized on assigned residents.
• Trains and monitors staff on use of patient/resident specific assistive devices and transfer equipment.
• Assists restorative nurse in providing staff education and competencies related to restorative care.
• Reports observations and other pertinent information related to care of residents to appropriate staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Restorative Nurse, ADON or DON.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently and safely lifts and transfers patients/residents weighing an average of 150 pounds, with designated lifting equipment and/or safe lifting techniques.
• Transports patients/residents in wheelchairs and other devices to various areas in the ministry.
• Frequently twists, stoops, bends, crouches, kneels, and reaches above or below shoulder height.
• Ability to work a full shift on one's feet.
• Frequently lifts and carries equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds.
• Must be able to express or exchange spoken and/or written ideas in English with patient/residents, co-workers, families, and the public.

Restorative Nurse/Nursing Administration

• Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance and adheres to the dress code of the position.
• Must be knowledgeable of ministry fire and safety procedures.
• Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures such as tornado, power failure, etc.
• Must be knowledgeable of appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends mandatory in-services.
