Job summary

SERVPRO Team Nichols in Chicago, IL seeks a restoration technician to assist in immediate response to property damage. You will perform water extraction, drying, and cleanup, and help set up specialty equipment on projects across the service area.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and efficient communication with clients and supervisors. Willingness to work outdoors and handle physical tasks is required; IICRC certification is a plus and on-call shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Willingness to work on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience in restoration, construction, or related field is preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including water damage and fire damage.
• Evaluate and perform restoration activities including water extraction, fire damage, equipment setup, and demolition.
• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools and supplies for each project.
• Communicate safety hazards, job-site findings, equipment, and tool needs to supervisors.
• Maintain open communication with clients, addressing concerns and explaining the restoration process.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site cleanup.

Key Responsibilities

• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools, equipment, and all necessary supplies for each project.
• Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.
• Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site clean-up

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Skills / Physical Demands / Competencies

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
• Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects.
• Ability to work with/around cleaning agents.
