Job summary

Homewood Retirement Centers is seeking a dedicated food service assistant to deliver meals to residents and guests in a restaurant-style dining environment. You will prepare trays with condiments, set dining areas, and ensure attractive presentation while maintaining high hygiene standards.

The role involves serving meals, assisting with dining, aiding in meal prep, and delivering trays to nursing areas. A positive, respectful approach to residents and team members is essential.

Qualifications

• Food service experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and printed instructions.
• High degree of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds during an eight hour shift and push tray carts.
• Ability to stand and walk for the full shift.
• Treat residents and the public with kindness and respect.
• Ability to use a point of service system preferred.

Job description

Full time hours: 11:15 am - 7:45 pm

Part time hours: 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering food to residents and guests in an attractive and professional manner. Ensures a high quality dining experience for residents and guests in the delivery of food in a restaurant-style environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information.
2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
3. Assists with the preparation of meal trays by placing condiments, silverware, food, beverages and special items on trays. Prepares room for dining by placing linens on the tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, utensils, menus, etc.
4. Serves food on trays and/or tables in an attractive manner and appetizing in appearance.
5. Responsible to wait on tables in a restaurant style manor using proper serving etiquette.
6. Responsible to assist in creating a positive restaurant style environment for our residents and guests.
7. Assists with the preparation of meals.
8. Delivers tray carts and nourishment’s to the nursing areas/floors.
9. Responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitation of dishes, utensils, equipment and work areas by following established work procedures and standards of sanitation.
10. Assists with special food functions (banquets, teas, etc.).
11. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

4. Ability to do repeated pushing of tray carts, and lifting or carrying a minimum of 25 pounds throughout an eight hour shift.
5. Ability to stand and walk throughout the course of an eight hour shift.
6. Must treat residents and the public with kindness and respect in a cheerful manner.
7. Ability to use the point of service system preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift; bend, stoop, twist, and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds frequently throughout the shift. Ability to do repeated pushing of food tray carts.
