Job summary

Salary Range $20.12 - $25.15*

Role Summary

The Restaurant Cook assists main restaurant associates in maintaining high quality food items while keeping in mind the cost and profitability of inventory. The cook controls daily and weekly inventories and conducts tasks to ensure guests receive a high level of food and beverage service.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active role in the smoothness and efficiency of retail restaurant operations by producing and coordinating the production of food items needed for daily menus and special events
  • Control daily and weekly inventories
  • Maintain team awareness of inventory cost and profitability through proper use of production, build‑to, and order sheets
  • Check in with supervisor for any special preparation needed before starting normal kitchen task
  • Perform job responsibilities normally associated with those of a cook, including:
    • Coordinate production of daily menu items using menu count and production (or build‑to sheets) to help control waste
    • Check inventory of all menus
    • Communicate supply needs for production with head cook
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area keeping in mind all health and sanitation standards to assure integrity of food products
  • Maintain equipment daily and report any malfunctions to designated associate
  • Maintain flow of food orders by communicating with associates promptly
  • Verify all special orders with designated associate
  • Maintain production of menu items throughout the day, keeping up with supply demands and making serious efforts to avoid wasted items
  • Close and sanitize work area promptly according to health codes and gather items required for next day’s production
  • Communicate any supplies that need to be ordered to supervisor
  • Check in with a supervisor before leaving
  • Uphold all Health and Sanitation standards as directed by Neiman Marcus, local Health Department, and 3rd party Sanitation auditors
