Job summary

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group is seeking a Restaurant Accountant to support daily accounting operations within the Restaurant Division. You’ll handle month-end closings, journal entries, and admin tasks across properties, reporting to the Controller.

Ideal candidates have a college degree, solid accounting understanding, and hospitality experience. Proficiency in MS Excel/Word and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end closing to include preparation and/or review of monthly financial statements, reconciliations and schedules.
• Manage property-related accounting tasks including licenses, renewals, taxes, and related admin duties.
• Backup other accountants when necessary.
• Review sales tax or accommodation tax returns for properties.
• Enter journal entries into accounting systems as necessary.
• Handle miscellaneous tasks such as scanning, filing, and storing accounting documents.
• Monitor bank balances and weekly payables.
• Assist the accounting department and respond to information requests from properties and related parties.

THE ROLE

As an experienced Accountant with experience working with Restaurant. As the Restaurant Accountant, you'll be a part of the Restaurant Division and support the day-to-day accounting operations. You'll be assigned properties as well as perform a variety of accounting, administrative and organizational tasks for the accounting department. This position will report to the Controller.

What we will ask of you:

• Perform month end closing to include preparation and/or review of monthly financial statements, reconciliations and creation of applicable work papers and schedules
• Perform administrative tasks of related to properties including correspondence, license application/renewals, tracking/payment of property taxes and other administrative tasks as they arise
• Backup other accountants when necessary
• Review sales tax or accommodation tax returns for properties
• Enter journal entries into accounting systems as necessary
• Miscellaneous tasks that may include scanning, copying, filing and/or storing accounting related document
• Monitor bank account balances and weekly payables/check runs
• Assist the accounting department employees as needed or any other assigned duty deemed necessary by supervisor
• Respond to requests for information from properties and related parties

Requirements for Success:

• College degree
• Understanding of accounting
• Previous experience in hospitality industry preferred.
• Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and think logically in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction.
• Ability to communicate effectively with personnel and customers at all discipline levels, both written and verbal
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Able to work as a team player in a deadline driven environment with accuracy and organization.
• Maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public Preferred.
