Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Respite Program Supervisor to oversee Respite Care services across the Central Iowa area. The role requires coordinating with providers, case managers, and families to ensure quality care and timely referrals.

The position offers flexible scheduling with some work-from-home flexibility and occasional evening meetings, plus travel within Iowa for program engagement and provider oversight.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with five years in human services, including 2 years in a leadership position.
  • Associates Degree with three years of related experience, at least one year in leadership.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services related field with one year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Respite Care services and supervise respite staff.
  • Coordinate with providers, case managers, and families/clients.
  • Review referrals, match clients with providers, and monitor client units.
  • Participate in client annual meetings/assessments and market the program.
  • Assist in hiring new providers and travel within the local/state area.

Our Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for a dedicated, energetic full-time Respite Program Supervisor to oversee services the Central Iowa service area. This position could be based out of the Ames or Des Moines office for the right candidate. Supervisor will provide oversight to respite providers serving Polk, Warren, Dallas, Story, Boone, Hardin, Marshall, and surrounding counties. The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it's our privilege to empower them toward success every day.

This position offers a flexible schedule & does have some work from home flexibility! We are looking for someone with good communication, interpersonal, computer and organizational skills and someone who is self motivated. This position is primarily 1st shift, but may occasionally require a meeting in the evening. Some traveling required. Very supportive and fun team to work with.

What You'll Do

The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability. The Program Supervisor oversees our Respite Care services, and is responsible for delivering the services and supervision of Respite staff. This position will coordinate with providers, case managers and families/clients. Will review and process referrals, match clients with providers, monitor client units, participate in client annual meetings/assessments, network and market the program, do home surveys with providers, supervise providers and partake in the hiring process for new providers.

Most travel is within the local area with very random travel required to other parts of the state.

What You'll Need

Qualified candidates for this job will have one of the following:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in human services, education or human services related field with 2 years being in a leadership position
  • OR Associates Degree and three years of related experience; with at least one year in a leadership role
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in a human services related field and one year of related experienc e
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a human services related field and one year of related experience. Additionally, years of related experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
