Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center in Portland, OR, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform basic and advanced therapeutic procedures and monitor patients. You will compute medications and coordinate care with physicians and nursing staff, ensuring accurate implementation of orders.

Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures. Accurately monitors/evaluates pertinent information from patient’s charts, and computes/prepares medications using basic principles of metric system. Coordinates patient care needs with physicians/nursing staff. Transcribes/implements physician orders. Uses basic/advanced assessment skills/patient information to maintain awareness and coordinate patient care needs. Troubleshoots and takes steps to correct clinical problems; refers unusual circumstances to supervision.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care.

Minimum Experience Requirement:

Prior experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of acid/base/electrolyte relationships and implications of life threatening situations preferred, not required. Establishes patient ventilator settings using metric measurements/advanced principles of volume, flow, pressure, time relationships preferred, not required.

Minimum License Requirement:

BLS certification required. ACLS, NRP and PALS preferred. Appropriate NYS licensure. CRT - Certified by National Board for Respiratory Care. RRT - Registered by National Board for Respiratory Care.
