Job summary

Fletcher Technical Community College seeks a Program Director for the Respiratory Therapy program in Schriever, LA. You will maintain CoARC accreditation, oversee long-range plans, budgets, and facilities, and supervise faculty and clinical education.

The role includes teaching courses, developing syllabi, and coordinating clinical education, admissions, and graduation activities. A strong instructional background and RRT credential are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree may be accepted if enrolled in a baccalaureate program within two years of hire.
• Minimum of four years’ experience as an RRT with at least two years in clinical respiratory care.
• Two years teaching in a CoARC accredited program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor.
• Must complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain CoARC accreditation and program approvals; manage plans, policies, budgets, facilities, equipment.
• Coordinate course offerings, teaching assignments, and faculty recruitment; supervise faculty; conduct observations and evaluations.
• Lead assessment of program outcomes; prepare annual reports and documentation for board; ensure compliance with accrediting/licensing bodies.
• Host Program Advisory Committee meetings and strengthen clinical/employer partnerships.
• Teach respiratory therapy courses and integrate didactic, lab, and clinical experiences with current practice.
• Develop syllabi, labs, and course materials; select textbooks and instructional technologies.
• Supervise students in clinical settings; coordinate clinical education design and scheduling.
• Recruit, admit, advise, monitor progress; coordinate graduation, certification, licensure, and pinning activities.
• Maintain student files, attendance, grades, and reporting timelines.
• Participate in college committees and recruitment events; represent the program and college professionally.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as Program Director: maintain CoARC accreditation and all programmatic approvals; implement long-range plans, policies, and budgets; manage facilities, equipment, and inventory
• Coordinate course offerings, teaching assignments, and faculty recruitment/orientation; supervise adjunct and full-time faculty; conduct observations, feedback, and evaluations.

• Host Program Advisory Committee meetings (twice yearly) and maintain minutes; strengthen clinical and employer partnerships.

• Develop/refine syllabi, lab modules, and course materials; select textbooks, equipment, and instructional technologies; maximize use of advanced classroom and simulation tools.

Required Qualifications:

• An associate degree may be accepted if the applicant is currently enrolled in a baccalaureate program or plans to enroll and complete a baccalaureate program within two years of hire date.
• A minimum of four years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two years in clinical respiratory care. A minimum of two years teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs. Must complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.
• Candidates must have good instructional techniques; computer knowledge; student-centered attitude; and must be well organized.
• Candidate must possess a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and a current state license.
