Job summary

Louisville Gardens in Louisville, Ohio, is seeking Respiratory Therapists to join our team. This full-time role (7a-7p) offers a $4,000 sign-on bonus and opportunities to work with state-of-the-art respiratory equipment in a hospital-like setting.

Responsibilities include operating ventilators, administering therapeutic gases, monitoring patient responses, and coordinating care with physicians. Must have an approved respiratory therapy program and state license.

Qualifications

• One to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of an approved school for respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory devices such as ventilators and gas administration systems.
• Adjust therapy parameters to achieve prescribed volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature.
• Monitor patient responses and vital signs during therapy.
• Assist patients with breathing exercises and participate in care planning with physicians.
• Inspect equipment for safety and efficiency, order repairs when needed.
• Demonstrate procedures to trainees and other healthcare staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.

• Operates equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature, and to administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs to patients under the orders of Physician.

• Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy through patient vital signs.

• Assists patient in performing breathing exercises.

• Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions.

• Maintains patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information.

• Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.

• Orders repairs when needed.

• Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
