BJC Healthcare's Progress West Hospital in St. Louis County seeks a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for PRN shifts.

You will provide direct patient care, assessment, treatment planning and collaborate with nurses and physicians as part of the Respiratory Care team. The role supports advanced clinical skills including ventilator management and other respiratory procedures, with opportunities for education and leadership within the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
• Advanced respiratory procedures familiarity (ECMO, ventilator support) and collaboration with healthcare team.

oin the Respiratory Team at BJC Healthcare's Progress West Hospital where we are dedicated to your growth and development. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapist.

PRN (minimum of 3 shiftd per 6 week period required)Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

The Respiratory Care team works side by side with the Nurses and Physicians and provide services to all areas of the hospital. This department, along with all departments within the hospital, supports the guiding principles of the hospital in providing care that is customized and reflects the patient's needs, values, and choices.

Provides direct patient care activities related to respiratory care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation within the guidelines of the hospital and department. Can independently apply advanced clinical respiratory expertise and scientific knowledge including best practices serving as a resource to others as part of the patient care team. Ensures patient safety by providing care in an effective, developmentally and age appropriate manner while complying with all quality and regulatory requirements as well as quality improvement initiatives.

Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information including documentation, handoff and works collaboratively with the healthcare team.Provides education and training about respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to others including patients, families, students, new employees and members of the healthcare team utilizing diversity and learning styles.

Performs various diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures according to established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies. Applies respiratory knowledge and clinical expertise, including the ability to assess, analyze and troubleshoot as needed.Demonstrates advanced clinical and critical care skills to support additional job responsibilities such as ECMO support, mechanical ventilator support, bronchoscopies, sleep lab, labor and delivery, cardiopulmonary and circulatory rehabilitation, Basic Life Support (BLS), etc. Respiratory Therapy
