Job summary

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure or eligible.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• PALS certification must be obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and assess side effects.
• Set-up and monitor mechanical ventilators and manage airways.
• Perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis.

Job Summary

This Respiratory Therapist opportunity is Per Diemand a convenient day shift schedule. Under the supervision of the Critical Care Director, Medical Director, and Respiratory Department Supervisor, the respiratory therapist is responsible for providing Respiratory Care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment. Remains alert, assesses possible side effects to oxygen delivery.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each.
• Sets-up and monitors mechanical ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatment, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, and understands the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure.

Qualifications

Regulatory Requirements:

• Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure or eligible.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• PALS certified within 90 days.
