Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide care under physician orders across the department. You will handle oxygen delivery, therapies, ventilator setup and arterial blood sampling with a focus on patient safety and comfort.

Under supervision of directors and managers, you will contribute to a high-quality care environment, participate in continued education, and support clinical excellence across services including NICU and critical

Qualifications

  • Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Preferred experience in neonatal transport.
  • 5 years of verifiable experience.
  • NICU experience, 3 years or more preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and related equipment.
  • Administers respiratory therapy treatments and monitors for side effects.
  • Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators and airway management tasks.
  • Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for ABG analysis.

Job summary: Under the supervision of the Critical Care Director, Medical Director and Respiratory Department Manager, the respiratory therapist is responsible for providing Respiratory Care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures.


Job Duties/Responsibilities


  • Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment. Remains alert, assesses possible side effects to oxygen delivery

  • Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each.

  • Sets-up and monitors mechanical ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatment, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning

  • Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, and understands the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure

Qualifications
