Job summary

Backus Hospital is seeking a clinically competent respiratory care practitioner to provide comprehensive respiratory therapy, diagnostic evaluations, and patient-focused care with minimal supervision. You will administer oxygen, medications, ventilatory support and other therapies while coordinating with the care team.

The role requires an AMA-approved respiratory program degree, NBRC-registered RRT, CT license, and BLS certification, with opportunities to advance through training and specialty

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor degree in respiratory care from an AMA approved program.
• RRT credential required by NBRC.
• State license to practice respiratory care in CT required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to patients with minimal guidance.
• Administer gases, aerosols, and ventilatory therapies as prescribed.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments.
• Tailor age-specific treatments and care to patients.
• Collaborate with health care team and pursue additional training/certification as needed.

Job Summary

Performs as a clinically competent practitioner of respiratory care. Provides respiratory care to patients with minimal guidance.Performs the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the cardiopulmonary system and associated aspects of other system functions.Administers respiratory therapy to include administering oxygen and other medical gases, aerosolized medications, positive pressure breathing devices, ventilators, resuscitation devices, etc.

Performs pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments.

Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s individual age specific needs and to provide individualized age specific treatments and care.Demonstrates efficiency across clinical/critical care settings to provide quality service to patient care units through communication, cooperation and collaboration with heath care team.Participates in additional training and/or certification courses to develop expertise and skills to become certified to work in specialized clinical areas.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) granted by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
• State of CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
