Job summary

Sanford Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our Level One Trauma Center team. You will assess patients, monitor lung function, and contribute to treatment plans within a multidisciplinary environment.

The role offers flexible shifts with on-call hours, a sign-on bonus, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth across our network of campuses. Experience with NBRC credentials, BLS, and state licensure is required; RRT preferred.

Qualifications

  • NBRC credential (RRT) required and current respiratory care licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Site-specific credentials such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required.
  • Must maintain active NBRC credentialing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients to prevent, detect, monitor and manage respiratory disease and complications.
  • Measure lung capacity to determine impairments and track progress.
  • Provide diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on patient analysis.
  • Work across general floors to critical care areas as needed.

Most staff schedules consist of rotating 8 or 12 hour shifts with weekend requirements. On call hours may be scheduled. All of our new hires will start out every other weekend and then move to every third at 1 year of service.

We have the ability to work in several clinical areas ranging from general floors to critical care. We have the potential to work in our neonatal, pediatric and adult clinical areas at our 3 campuses. We have great management and friendly staff who is always willing to help each other.

Qualifications

A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program is required; minimum associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in their department.

Demonstrates the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care.

Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-servicing as required by the department and hospital.

Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.

Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Must obtain site-specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
