Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide and coordinate high quality respiratory therapy under physician orders, supporting the health and recovery of patients across all ages.

Responsibilities include therapy administration (aerosol, oxygen, ventilation), patient education, home visits, care coordination with physicians, and adherence to safety and documentation protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited/AMA certified School of Respiratory Therapy. An Associate/Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
• Licensed with the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient education on home respiratory care equipment.
• Complete routine and emergent home visits to address compliance and education.
• Coordinate patient care via calls to patients, referrals sources and physicians.
• Complies with patient care and documentation procedures to ensure patient protection and safety.
• Monitor patients for compliance with physician prescription and understanding of equipment and supplies.
• Provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

Job description

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Respiratory Therapist, you will help to provide and coordinate high quality respiratory therapy upon the order of a licensed physician to promote the health and recovery of patients served by the St. Alexius Medical Center.

Every day you will perform basic respiratory therapies, including but are not limited to; aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen therapy, diagnostics, patient/family education, invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and patient transport. Drawing, analyzing and reporting results from arterial, venous, capillary and spinal fluid samples for Point of Care testing.

To be successful in this role, you must develop therapeutic goals and formulate care plans for patients. You will provide life-enhancing, life-supporting quality care to the elderly, adult, adolescent, children and infant patient populations.

• Conduct phone calls to patients, referrals sources and physicians to coordinate patient care.
• Complies with patient care and documentation procedures to ensure patient protection and safety.
• Monitor patients for compliance with physician prescription and understanding of equipment and supplies.
• Responsible for provision of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

$30,000 sign on bonus available to eligible candidates

*Pay Range*

$29.63 - $40.74/hour
