The Respiratory Therapist Pulmonary provides specialized respiratory care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans for patients with pulmonary conditions. They perform pulmonary function testing, rehabilitation, and patient education while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role requires licensure, clinical experience, and proficiency with respiratory equipment and patient care protocols.
Provides respiratory care to patients in varying states of health and illness by assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the respiratory plan of care. Makes knowledgeable assessments of outpatients in clinic, testing, pulmonary rehab, and inpatient consults as needed. Performs pulmonary therapy care according to established policy and procedure in assigned areas including pulmonary function testing (PFT), pulmonary rehab, and respiratory patient education. The Respiratory Therapist functions as an essential member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care, instruction, and education.
Graduate of an Associate Degree Level CoARC accredited educational program for Respiratory Therapy.
