Job summary

New Jersey Respiratory, Inc. is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Care Practitioner in Hagerstown, MD. The role requires AMA‑approved training, current RCP license, and CPR (BLS) certification. You will operate ventilation devices, collect blood gases, transport patients, and support CPAP and oxygen therapy within the department.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved training program.
• Maintains a current RCP license and CPR (BLS) certification.
• CPR certification required for practice.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and manage medical ventilators.
• Perform blood gas collection and interpretation.
• Transport patients as needed within facilities.
• Manage artificial airways and provide oxygen/ humidity therapy.
• Administer aerosolized medications and CPAP therapy.
• Perform pulse oximetry and capnography monitoring.
• Assess patients and communicate with staff and families.
• Ensure equipment is clean and functioning per policy.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Follow physician orders and duty assignments.
• Engage in ongoing in-service education.

Description

Respiratory Therapy Care Practitioner who is a graduate of an American Medical Association approved training program. Has successfully passed the certification examination. Maintains a current RCP license and CPR certification (BLS).

Duties

• CPR
• Operation, maintenance, and management of mechanical ventilators
• Patient transportation (internal and external)
• Blood gas collection and interpretation
• Artificial airway management
• Aerosolized drug administration
• Oxygen therapy
• Humidity therapy
• CPAP therapy
• Pulse oximetry
• Capnography
• Patient assessment
• Effective communication with other department and family members
• Operation of all equipment in accordance with department policy
• Quality control of all equipment
• Participation in the department’s quality improvement programs

Exposure Risks

Normal work routine could involve exposure to blood and body fluids. Responsible for following OSHA guideline standard and the use of universal precautions.

Working Conditions

Hours indicated by the residents and community's needs. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

If your assignment involves caring for individuals on life-support, where having a therapist in-house is required by law, you will need to make arrangements to come to work during inclement weather. These arrangements can be in coordination with NJRA, and may involve alternative modes of transportation, such as a taxi, or showing up to work earlier or staying at work later then your scheduled shift.
