Job summary

Lincare seeks a Respiratory Care Equipment Specialist to perform equipment setups for ventilators, monitors, CPAP units, and oxygen devices, delivering professional patient education in home settings. The role includes maintaining records, staying current with respiratory therapy concepts, and complying with safety regulations.

On-call evenings/weekends may be required, with shifts varying by center size. Ideal candidates have experience in home healthcare, a valid license where required, and

Qualifications

• Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or national board governing clinical practice or as otherwise permitted by law
• CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position, Required

Responsibilities

• Provides patient education as an integral part of patient care, often in patients' homes
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments according to Lincare policies
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and related therapy concepts
• Follows Safety & Regulatory Manual policies (OSHA, DOT, FDA) and Emergency Planning
• Represents Lincare through professional appearance, patient care, and written reports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in a complete and organized manner per accreditation standards
• On-call evenings and weekends as scheduled (frequency depends on center size and staffing)

Job description

This employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.

• Generally responsible for the setup of highlytechnical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units
  • Also responsible for providing technicalassistance with equipment
  • Incumbent may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need andLincare policy, frequently in patients' homes
  • Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with Lincare policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts
• Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA(includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning
• Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of writtenreports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards
• Works on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
  • Frequency is determined by the center size andthe number of employees available to share in the responsibility
  • Must respond in a timely manner

Work Experience

• Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcaresetting, or other patient care, Required
• Level 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required
• Level 3 - Minimum of three years in home healthcare
  • May be involvedin training of other Healthcare Specialists, Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, andpatients
• computer literate
• clinician authorized within scope of practice (as established by applicable state lawor if none, by the applicable national board) to provide all patient care services offered by Lincarefrom time to time
• Subject to state law/regulation, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this position
  • If applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to avalid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for
    CRTs and RRTs.
  • Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis,
    a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law
