Job summary

Lincare is seeking a Home Medical Equipment Technician to set up ventilators, monitors and CPAP units in patients' homes, providing technical assistance and ensuring safe operation. This role also involves performing equipment checks and educating families on proper use.

This position requires a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and travel to patient locations. You will participate in on-call evenings/weekends as scheduled, maintain patient records, and stay current with respiratory

Qualifications

• Excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients.
• Computer literate and able to use standard software to maintain records.
• Clinician authorized within state law to provide patient care services; may require NBRC credentials (CRTs/RRTs).
• Valid state license/certification as required; on occasion exceptions may be allowed by state law.

Responsibilities

This employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.

• Generally responsible for the setup of highlytechnical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units
  • Also responsible for providing technicalassistance with equipment
  • Incumbent may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need andLincare policy, frequently in patients' homes
  • Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with Lincare policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts
• Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA(includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning
• Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of writtenreports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards
• Works on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
  • Frequency is determined by the center size andthe number of employees available to share in the responsibility
  • Must respond in a timely manner

Work Experience

• Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcaresetting, or other patient care, Required
• Level 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required
• Level 3 - Minimum of three years in home healthcare
  • May be involvedin training of other Healthcare Specialists, Required

  • If applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to avalid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for
    CRTs and RRTs.
  • Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis,
    a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law
