Accendra Health seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist Lead to provide leadership and clinical support for Respiratory Therapists across the Chicago metro area. You will serve as a clinical resource for equipment, processes, and patient care best practices, performing setups and follow-ups on multiple devices.

The role requires 10+ years of RT experience, an active IL license, and travel across locations.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with IL license and active credentials.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Minimum 10 years of Respiratory Therapy experience; DME experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and clinical support to RTs across the Chicago metro area.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for respiratory equipment and best practices.
• Perform equipment setups (oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators) and follow-ups.
• Educate patients and staff on equipment use, maintenance and safety.

Why is this Respiratory Therapist Lead role different?

At Apria, you'll have the opportunity to combine hands-on respiratory care with leadership responsibilities across the Chicago metro area. This role is ideal for an experienced Respiratory Therapist who enjoys mentoring others, supporting operational excellence, and serving as a clinical resource for branch teams.

You'll partner with Respiratory Therapists across multiple locations, provide patient care support, and help drive clinical best practices while maintaining a balance between field and office responsibilities.

Key Highlights

• Primary Location: Hanover Park, IL.
• Coverage Area: Support all Respiratory Therapists throughout the Chicago metro area.
• Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Work Arrangement: Approximately 60% office and 40% field.
• Leadership Opportunity: Serve as a clinical leader and resource for RT teams across the market.
• Mileage Reimbursement: $0.76 per mile.

Salary Range

• $45.00 – $55.00 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

On-Call Transparency

• Currently scheduled for:
• 1 weekday on-call shift per month
• 1 weekend on-call shift per month
• Long-term goal is to transition to approximately 1 week of on-call coverage every 3 months
• On-call responsibilities may include phone support, patient assistance, and troubleshooting equipment as needed

What You'll Do

• Provide leadership and clinical support to Respiratory Therapists across the Chicago metro area.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for respiratory equipment, processes, and patient care best practices.
• Conduct oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, ventilator, and other respiratory equipment setups and follow-up visits.
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment issues and assist with complex patient situations.
• Educate patients, caregivers, and clinical team members on equipment use, maintenance, and safety.
• Support branch operations and ensure compliance with company policies and clinical standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, referral sources, and branch leadership.
• Perform patient assessments and document care accurately and timely.
• Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring Respiratory Therapists.
• Travel throughout the Chicago metro area to support branch needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Look For

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active IL RT license.
• Minimum 10 years of Respiratory Therapy experience; DME experience strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout the Chicago metro area.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
• Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and electronic documentation systems.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy.
• Hold a current CPR Certification.
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.
