RWJBarnabas Health–Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ seeks a Lead/Charge Respiratory Therapist on the Night shift. This role supervises staff, assigns duties across care areas, and manages clinical and operational issues to maintain department performance standards.

The Lead delivers patient care as needed and serves as a liaison to Nursing and Medical staff, ensuring quality and compliance in respiratory services. Full-time position with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Active NJ Respiratory Therapist (RT) license is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in orientation of new employees and ensures shift responsibilities are understood.
• Completes chart reviews, QA/PI reviews, and other tasks in a timely manner.
• Plans for Department services and accepts tasks to achieve results.
• Addresses clinical and operational issues as they arise.
• Encourages inter- and intra-shift communication using identified processes.
• Provides compassionate, prompt, and consistent patient care.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of communications and records.

Job Overview:

The Lead/Charge Therapist is responsible for assigning staff to various care areas, for addressing clinical and operational situations as they arise, and for maintaining Department performance standards, reporting performance and behavioral issues. The Lead/Charge RCP is a liaison to the Nursing Department and Medical staff and a resource to the Respiratory staff members. The Charge RCP delivers clinical patient care, as needed, during the course of their normal responsibilities

Qualifications:

Required:

• Active NJ Respiratory Therapist (RT) License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Adult Critical Care Certification (ACCS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Essential Functions:

• Assist the Department Educator in orientation of new employees. Ensures all new employees are oriented to the shift including responsibilities and duties. Will demonstrate and observe procedures in various units and assure the new employee's understanding.
• Completes chart reviews, QA/PI reviews and other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Participates in planning for Department services. Accepts assigned tasks and obtains results.
• Effectively addresses clinical and operational issues as they arise
• Encourages and completes inter and intra-shift communication using identified processes
• Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.
• Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.

• Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
• Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
• Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures.
