Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Therapy Aide to assist under the supervision of a respiratory therapist with prescribed gas delivery and therapy setup.

Responsibilities include administering routine oxygen therapy, assisting with patient rounds, operating and maintaining respiratory equipment, and teaching patients how to use treatments. Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in a CoARC-approved program with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Enrolled in three semesters and in good standing with a CoARC-approved respiratory care program.
• BLS certification is required.

• Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment.
• Assists with patient care rounds per policy.
• Provides and monitors routine oxygen therapy, non-critical patient transports and patient education, as needed.
• Treats patients using chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive methods such as CPAP and BIPAP therapies.
• Monitors and records the progress of treatment.

• Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment.
• Assists with patient care rounds per policy.
• Provides and monitors routine oxygen therapy, non-critical patient transports and patient education, as needed.
• Treats patients using a variety of methods including chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive methods such as CPAP and BIPAP therapies.
• Monitors and records the progress of treatment.
• Teaches patients how to use treatments.
• Operates, calibrates, processes, and maintains respiratory equipment.
• Cleans, reassembles, and performance tests various pieces of patient care equipment.
• Restocks respiratory supplies and cylinders.
• Actively pursues education and training necessary to become a respiratory therapist.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Required

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Currently enrolled, with successful completion of three semesters, and in good standing with a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved respiratory care program.
• BLS certification.
