Job summary

Novant Health seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) for Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, NC. The position is on the night shift (7pm–7am) and full-time within the Respiratory Care department.

Responsibilities include patient advocacy, administering therapies, and documentation. Licensure as an RCP and RRT credential are required, with potential career growth and departmental mentoring offered.

Qualifications

  • Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree required; 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
  • New graduates must obtain the RRT credential within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for patients and integrate education into the interdisciplinary care plan.
  • Prioritize duties based on patient needs and acuity; ensure timely completion of care interventions.
  • Administer and evaluate respiratory therapies and medications; transfer and transport patients as needed.
  • Evaluate patient needs and provide routine respiratory care (e.g., ABGs, bronchial hygiene) and higher level care in critical areas.
  • Demonstrate independence in Respiratory Care per state requirements and standards.
  • In Critical Care: ventilator management, code blue, airway management, blood gas interpretation, and related protocols.
  • Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
  • Prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels and ensures timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
  • Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports patients.
  • Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
  • Demonstrates independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
  • Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
  • Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required. Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): New graduates of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program are required to obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential within twelve (12) months of their date of hire.
