Classification: Non‑Exempt.
The Registered Respiratory Therapist serves as an intricate member of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized respiratory plan of care that promotes optimal health or a comforting peaceful death. The Registered Respiratory Therapist utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Respiratory Therapist accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
Education: Associate’s Degree/Certificate Required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
Experience: Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Registered by National Board of Respiratory Care and current RCP licensure in applicable state required. BLS required upon hire. ACLS, NRP, and PALS to be completed within 90 days of hire. CRT or RRT. VA State Licensure.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Completes 2 Respiratory Care competencies/year.

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
The base compensation range for this role is $33.50 - $46.76 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
