Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a full-time Day Shift. The ideal candidate will deliver competent respiratory care, perform patient assessments, manage ventilator and life-support equipment, and document progress per hospital policy.

Requirements include graduation from a two-year RT program, DC licensure, NBRC RRT certification, and BLS/PALS/ACLS. 3–5 years’ acute care experience, with ICU/Peds/ER/NICU exposure, is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved two-year respiratory therapist program.
  • Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation.
  • Licensed as an RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist and NBRC certified.
  • BLS, PALS, and ACLS required (American Heart Association).
  • Minimum 3–5 years full-time experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.
  • Experience working with ICU, PEDS ER, and NICU.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to patients in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
  • Perform patient evaluations and assessments according to department and hospital policy.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment on all assigned patients, including review of systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in diagnostic and monitoring procedures and document results accurately and completely.
  • Initiate and update a comprehensive plan of care according to patients’ needs.
  • Ensure documentation reflects patients’ progress towards desired outcomes.
  • Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blues.
  • Demonstrate and verbalize plan, implement and evaluate complex respiratory procedures for patients.
  • May provide respiratory therapy procedures to patients outside of special care areas.
  • Demonstrate and verbalize the proper procedure for assisting with bronchoscopies.
  • Evaluate and document the patient’s response to nursing and medical intervention.
  • Perform other job duties/assignments as assigned.
