Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to manage cardio-respiratory care and coordinate patient treatment plans in a night shift setting. The role focuses on ventilator support, clinical procedures, and patient education across our facilities in New Jersey.

The position requires certification as a Respiratory Therapist, licensure in NJ, and BLS; ACLS is expected within 6 months. Experience with blood gas analysis and patient education is valued.

Qualifications

• RRT new graduates accepted.
• CRT with 10 years of experience required.
• CRT with less than 10 years must earn RRT within 1 year.
• Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care program with a high school diploma.
• Registered or Registry Eligible as a Respiratory Therapist per NBRC.
• BLS credential.
• ACLS credential (or obtain within 6 months).
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by NJ Board.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and develop respiratory care plans.
• Administer treatments/medications as prescribed by physician.
• Demonstrate competency in invasive and non-invasive ventilator care.
• Demonstrate competency in Blood Gas Laboratory procedures.
• Educate patients and families on medications, disease processes, and wellness.
• Set up, operate, and maintain medical gas delivery and humidification systems.
• Document patient care using clinical information systems.

Job Information: Summary:

Responsible for the treatment, care, and management of patients with cardio-respiratory deficiencies or abnormalities. Serves as a clinical resource in all the areas of patient care and contributes to the overall quality of patient care.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessments and develops individualized respiratory care plans.
• Administers treatments/medications as prescribed by the physician.
• Demonstrates competency in all aspects of invasive and non-invasive ventilator care.
• Demonstrates competency in all aspects of the Blood Gas Laboratory and/or Laboratory procedures regarding Blood Gases (location dependent).
• Provides patient and family education on medications, disease processes, treatments, and wellness strategies.
• Setup, operates, and maintains medical gas delivery and airway humidification systems.
• Documents patient care activities using computer information management systems.

Position Qualifications Required

• RRT new graduates accepted.
• CRT with 10 years of experience.
• CRT with less than 10 years of experience will be required to earn their RRT credential within one year.
• Graduate of an AMA approved program of study in Respiratory Care with a high school diploma.
• Registered or Registry Eligible as a Respiratory Therapist as determined by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• BLS credential.
• ACLS credential (or must obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire).
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care.

Hourly Rate: $38.33 - $59.58 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
