Job summary

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care with orientation and ongoing development. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans and ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

The role offers 8–12 weeks of orientation, a two-year contract with a $20,000 signing bonus paid in increments, and relocation assistance for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: 1 year Respiratory Therapist experience preferred.
• Licenses: RCP license with VA DHP required upon hire; CRT required upon hire; CPR/BLS required; ACLS within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate the Respiratory Care Plan.
• Complete documentation and ensure orders are current, completed or discontinued.
• Participate in meetings, projects and in-services to improve Respiratory Care Services.
• Apply proper infection control techniques in daily duties.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans.
• Evaluate progress of the treatment.

As a respiratory therapist at RRMC, you’ll receive 8-12 weeks of comprehensive orientation, training in our respiratory-driven protocols. Post-training, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team to provide exceptional care to our patients. Our clinical ladder supports your professional development, including obtaining your Advanced Airway Management certification. We understand the importance of work/life balance, offering open self-scheduling and every third weekend rotation. What you will do

• Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, implementing, and evaluating the treatment and procedures that contribute to the Respiratory Care Plan.
• Completes all documentation and assures all orders are current, completed or discontinued.
• Participates and assists in meetings, projects and in-services relative to improvement of RHS Respiratory Care Services.
• Utilizes proper infection control techniques in performance of duties and in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Works with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans.
• Evaluates progress of the treatment.

Qualifications

• Education Associates Degree, Respiratory Therapy or Related Field (Required) or Bachelors Degree, Respiratory Therapy or Related Field (Preferred)
• Experience 1 year Respiratory Therapist experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) RCP License with the Virginia Department of Health Professions Upon Hire(Required)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire(Required)
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
• ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 1 Year(Required)
