Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to work per physician orders, providing age-appropriate respiratory care across neonate to geriatric patients.

You will administer gases, medications, airway clearance, ventilation, and other modalities while ensuring supply and equipment readiness and safety in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Illinois.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential if credentialed after July 2002.
• American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers).
• Professional level of knowledge of practice and theory.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the medical team.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy as ordered by the physician for diverse patient ages.
• Administers medical gases, medications, airway clearance, mechanical ventilation, and other respiratory modalities.
• Monitors supplies and equipment for department and patient care areas.
• Apply theoretical knowledge to care of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with problem solving and critical thinking.

Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist works in accordance with evidenced based policies and procedures of the Medical Center with all patient populations. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by the prescribing physician that is appropriate to all the ages of the patients served. In accordance with established policies and procedures, administers medical gases, medications, airway clearance, mechanical ventilation, other respiratory modalities, monitor levels of supplies and equipment for department and patient care areas. Applies theoretical knowledge to care of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with other members of the healthcare team by demonstrating competence in respiratory skills, problem solving, and critical thinking that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Illinois.
• Current National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapy credential if credentialed after July 2002.
• American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers)
• Professional level of knowledge of practice and theory.
• Basic Computer Skills
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the medical team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an approved institution.
• Two to three years of Respiratory Therapy Experience
